Cisco has said that it wants to create a closer working relationship between its sales and channel staff, while removing much of the complexity of dealing with the vendor.
Speaking to CRN, UK and Ireland channel director Bernadette Wightman said she was keen to make it easier for the two teams to communicate, adding that the first stage of that had involved taking sales heads to its partner conference in Boston.
"They appreciated the time to get to know the partners and that drove a different level of community and intimacy," she told the magazine. "We need a collaborative approach between sales and channel."
She added that the company was setting up help desks, aimed at stopping resellers being passed between divisions. "We want to be much easier to get hold of and not hand partners around numerous different departments," she said.
"When I look at some of our processes and the hoops you have to go through, it drives me nuts. We want to take out this complexity and transact with our partners in a much simpler way."
