Network solutions provider Cisco is to showcase its new business social networking software platform at forthcoming CES in Las Vegas.Entitled Eos, the network is intended to allow media and entertainment companies to bridge the gap between themselves and their customers.
“The reality is that media is so disrupted by digital technology,” said the Cisco executive behind Eos, Dan Scheinman.
“Fans are looking for ways to connect to their favourite artists or TV shows and they are seeking out communities, but the media companies have been slow to provide this for them. Eos is centred around community and allows fans to participate.”
The first company to utilise the new service is the Warner Music Group and will use the software to create websites for two of its artists, Sean Paul and Laura Izibor.
“We have tried just about everything out there,” said Warner’s executive vice president of digital strategy and business development, Michael Nash. “We eventually realised that we are dependent on technology, but we are not a technology company, so strategic partnerships in terms of using a platform is a very desirable approach.”
