Zink Imaging’s ‘zero ink’ technology has been integrated into a number of devices showcased at this year’s CES, including a pocket device that prints full-sized photos.
Pandigital launched its Portable Photo Printer, which uses Zink’s patented paper. The paper is embedded with yellow, magenta and cyan dye crystals, which are heated and activated by the device – meaning that no ink or ribbon is required.
The compact printer produces borderless 4x6-inch prints and features a memory card slot, an LCD preview screen and an intuitive user interface. US distribution for the device is planned for this quarter.
Polaroid unveiled two new Zink-enabled products – the PoGo Instant Digital Camera and the PoGo Instant Mobile Printer.
The 12 megapixel camera has a built-in Zink printer that produces 3x4-inch Zink pictures, and the mobile printer produces photos in the same size.
