The countdown to CeBIT continues, with the organisers confirming that more than 5,500 exhibitors have registered for the 2008 event.The trade fair for the digital industry has undergone some dramatic changes this year. The organisers promise even more content, new areas, categories and high profile speakers such as Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft and the French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The event has also been streamlined, with a single day coming off the running time.
“The new CeBIT is in place,” stated Ernst Raue, managing board member of Deutsche Messe, an organiser of CeBIT. “Our new concept - involving a sharper profile, a clearer structure and significantly more content - is meeting with a positive response in the marketplace.”
One of the key issues at the 2008 event is the subject of green IT, with the organisers planning several concentrated exhibits on the subject. These include the Green IT Village, which will be located in Hall 9, as well as a special supporting program and a reference guide that will be published in time for the event.
“The question of how innovative IT applications can contribute to climate protection is one that preoccupies almost all enterprises,” said Raue. “But for the IT industry, the energy efficiency of their equipment is also becoming a key concern. The global IT industry is facing some critical choices.”
CeBIT 2008 will take place between March 4th and 9th in Hannover, Germany.
