The organisers of CeBit have given the show a more practical focus by emphasising software that can help during the recession, internet communication and green technology. This year’s green IT section is five times larger than last year, a response to the growing popularity of the sector, while another growing trend is internet communications, grouped together by the shows organisers under the banner of ‘Webseity’ – short for web society.
Another growing interest for the event is e-health, which includes hospital networks, digitised medical records and remote patient monitoring.
