Carrefour adopts Softwide

Matt Grainger
Carrefour adopts Softwide The French firm, Carrefour has initiated an automated sales system that utilises Tribeka’s Softwide program.

B-Park is the first store in the Carrefour group to use this software, which can store any kind of digital media, from software to movies.

The data is stored on a local server, while the customer can browse the available products on a touch screen in store. Directly after the customer has made their order, a CD or DVD is burned in store while two high-resolution printers will reproduce any packaging and documentation.

At this time, Carrefour is offering around 500 computer and language software programs on the system with another 300 in the pipeline but the company is hoping to bring a broader variety of media to the system as soon licensing agreements have been made.
