Carphone Warehouse will buy Tiscali’s UK broadband operation for £236 million.
The deal will see the creation of the UK’s largest broadband provider as the newly acquired division will be amalgamated with Carphone Warehouse’s existing broadband business, TalkTalk.
According to Silicon.com, the amalgamated businesses will have 4.25 million domestic subscribers.
“On or around completion, we are counting that we will get 1.45 million broadband customers, 300,000 dial-up and voice-only customers and around 100,000 wholesale customers,” said Carphone Warehouse’s chief executive officer, Charles Dunstone.
“Tiscali customers will continue their Tiscali email addresses and the portal will continue.”
