Computer 2000, the UK arm of TechData, is ramping up its audio visual business after recently appointing Darren Sainsbury as head of the unit, and is advising retailers to get into the sector ASAP.
The distributor has been involved in the sector for a while, but plans to further expand its audiovisual team this by adding two new field-based sales staff to provide active support for resellers on audiovisual sales. It is also bringing on new vendor partners to bolster its range.
“C2000 have an already extensive product offering and AV has always been part of that,” Sainsbury told PC Retail. “By adding dedicated resource and expertise it will assist in reaching more customers than it has previously done. We want more of our industry leading customer base to look at AV in general and to offer help and support along the way. Our goal is to become distributor of choice within a year and with the newly formed AV team at computer 2000 I see no reason why this wont happen.”
Sainsbury claims that it is currently a lucrative time to be in the AV sector, and is urging retailers that are not already involved to do so quickly.
“The sector is in growth,” he said. “Historical PC resellers that have not been focused in this area should do ASAP. AV requires some expertise in supply and installation of the hardware but the content for public display solutions is the key to customer satisfaction.
"They could sell, deliver and install the best hardware and without eye catching and easily updateable content would probably be the last time they get another install from that customer," he continued. "Computer 2000 have TechData agency to assist its customers in this exact subject and will be working very closely with them in the future to ensure help is at hand if its the content part of the a digital signage solution they struggle with.”
