The world’s first 360-degree video capture for Android is now available

BubbleScope comes to the Samsung Galaxy S3

BubblePix has released its BubbleScope camera for Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone.

Previously only available for iPhone 4, 4S and 5, the 360-degree camera can capture video and images and works in conjunction with the BubblePix app, enabling users to share their ‘bubbles’ with friends and other devices via a free online account.

Key features of the BubbleScope and BubblePix app include real time 360- degree previews, social media integration, library management, fully retractable glass optics, and neoprene protection case with cleaning cloth.

Each BubbleScope also comes with a connection case for the specified handset model. Cases are also sold separately, at a cost of £11.99, so users can take pictures across multiple devices if desired.

The BubbleScope works by using a precision engineered hemi-spherical glass mirror to capture the 360-degree environment around the device. An arrangement of corrective optics and an angled mirror then re-directs the light into the camera’s standard lens and produces a ‘doughnut’ shaped 360- degree image. The BubblePix App then ‘unwraps’ this doughnut into an immersive 360-degree image in real time, which can then be previewed and captured as a still image or a video.

The pocket-sized device operates in standard vertical screen position to enable users to view the screen and operate the app whilst capturing a level horizon image. The phone case is also discreet and thin so when the BubbleScope is not in use it has minimal affect to the feel and function of the smartphone.

The BubbleScope will also be available for BlackBerry Z10 from spring 2013, with a BubblePix app being available on the BlackBerry World storefront. It will be one of the first applications designed for the new BlackBerry 10 platform.

BubblePix will also be releasing a SDK for their solution for the BlackBerry 10 platform to allow third party application developers to create BubbleScope compatible applications and solutions The Galaxy S3 BubbleScope is available via Kondor and carries a price of £49.99.
