BT's broadband network has suffered a massive outage as a power failure at an exchange in Birmingham saw much of the telco giant's broadband customers cut off across the UK.
"Hundreds of thousands" of customers were said to be affected the disruption which ultimately forced BT to turn to social networking sites to explain what was going on.
"We're aware that a number of you are unable to get online. This is due to a power issue. We’re sorry about this & will keep you updated," the BTCare tweeted.
BT said that the majority of customers should be pack on line and advised customers that are still affected to reboot their routers.
BT's Twitter account also linked to a form to report problems if customers still cannot connect.
