As 2013 draws to a close a number of security firms are revealing their predictions for the year ahead.
Kaspersky Lab forecasts that there will be a considerable growth in the number of attacks targeting Bitcoin in 2014. The firm also believes cybercriminals will continue to develop access regular bank accounts via mobile devices, through mobile phishing scams and banking Trojans.
G Data seconds this, predicting a rise in personal data theft via the construction of smartphone botnets.
G Data believes that we could start to see devices such as Smart TVs becoming manipulated by cybercriminals. As well as this, the firm says The World Cup in Brazil will be a tempting target for criminal as they launch spam campaigns such as fake match tickets and cheap flights.
Panda Security also believes attacks on mobile phones will increase in 2014, saying that Android will continue to be the number one mobile target for cybercrime, with the coming year setting a new record for the number of threats targeting the platform.
The firm also agrees with G Data that a number of devices around that home, such as Smart TVs, IP cameras and multimedia players, are extremely vulnerable to security flaw exploits due to users rarely updating them.
