Samsung has launched a number of education-oriented products at the BETT trade show in London, including an LCD touch-screen e-board, a robust netbook for kids and two e-books.
The NB30 netbook, which will be available from this month, has been designed to resist the less-than-careful handling that schoolchildren might subject it to – it is housed in a shock and scratch resistant casing and the hard disk drive utilises freefall sensors to park the disk if they sense that the device has been dropped.
Powered by the Aton N450, the device features wireless N and Bluetooth connectivity and is protected by FailSafe anti-theft software and AnyPC remote access.
The e-books are available in two sizes – the 6-inch E6 and the 10-inch E101 – and will be available in the UK from March. These devices differ from other e-books as they use a stylus pen and handwriting recognition software to allow students to annotate the texts that they are reading. They support ePub, PDF and TXT file types, and include an integrated dictionary.
The vendor also launched its new 650TS e-board, which is an interactive whiteboard that incorporates a high-definition LCD touchscreen. It features syncing capabilities that can allow the teacher to upload information to the students PCs, or to display an audience PC screen on the board. The 650TS is due to be available from March.
