Epson has launched its first range of ultra-short-throw projectors designed for the classroom.
The new devices can be used with both interactive and standard whiteboards. As they are ‘ultra-short-throw’, they can be mounted closer to the wall, reducing glare and shadow interference.
The range consists of five projectors, two of which have inbuilt interactive capabilities, turning any projection surface into an interactive one. Teachers using the EB-460i and EB-450Wi have an interactive pen that allows them to control applications, add notes and drawings, which can be saved during a lesson.
Graeme Davidson, senior product manager VI at Epson UK said: “We know from our research, teachers find that by using technology in the classroom learning is more interesting and relevant to children’s current lives. It can increase engagement, resulting in higher enjoyment and can help to address different learning needs.”
The projectors have an inbuilt speaker, so if needed teachers can use a microphone to amplify their voice. The range also includes Ethernet, USB input and optional wireless connectivity.
The ultra-short-throw range features up to 3000 lumens output, with a lamp that can last up to 3,500 hours in eco mode.
Some devices in the range - the EB-440W, EB-450Wi and EB-450W – offer WXGA resolution, which allows users to fully leverage widescreen notebooks or tablets and widescreen DVD content.
