Best Buy has become the first independent retailer to stock Apple's iPhone in the US, from September 7th.Unlike in the UK, where Carphone Warehouse was able to sell the device from day one, US mobile buyers have only been able to purchase iPhones through AT&T and Apple stores.
The move comes after Best Buy completed the roll out of Best Buy Mobile, the firm's joint venture with the Carphone Warehouse in the US, three months ahead of schedule.
When questioned if the store would be able to competently sell the device, president and chief operation officer of Best Buy, Brian J. Dunn said: "Our Best Buy Mobile employees have the training and expertise to deliver the best experience possible for our customers - from the initial purchase through the life of their iPhones."
