Around 1,000 jobs are set to be created by the arrival of Best Buy on UK shores, despite the launch of the joint venture between Carphone Warehouse and the US retail giant being delayed till 2010.Carphone's UK chief executive Andrew Harrison revealed the figure during an interview with Mobile News.
The news comes less than a week after the retailer revealed that it would be cutting around 450 positions from its head office as it looked to reduce costs in the face of a deepening recession.
The first Best Buy store is now expected to open in 2010, with the joint venture expecting to have around 200 stores in the UK by the end of 2013.
