Soon-to-be-launched electronics retailer Best Buy Europe is close to buying two superstores currently owned by Homebase, according to reports.
Sources told the Financial Times that the shops are in Enfield, north London, and Aintree, Liverpool. Best Buy is said to have looked at six Homebase stores altogether.
Best Buy Europe will open its first British stores in the spring with branches already confirmed in Thurrock and Southampton. The company says that as it expands it operations in the UK, it will create up to 8,000 jobs over the course of five years.
The group recently launched a consumer-focused UK website ahead of its move into the British market.
