Best Buy has expanded into Mexico with the launch of its second largest store, with the official opening attended by the President of Mexico, minister of the economy and the chief executive of Best Buy International Bob Willet.The store, which will employ 250 staff, is a sign of the confidence Best Buy has in the Mexican economy, said Willet. Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa praised Best Buy for opening the store, stressing that he felt the firm would bring needed competition.
"Ours are long term plans," added Willet. "We arrived to Mexico to revolutionise the way retail stores work and this can only be achieved if people are able to know our vision and choose it over other options.
"Our strategy is to get to different cities and make the difference through our customer service. He highlighted that the company's expansion plans could represent the creation of thousands of jobs throughout the Mexican Republic."
