Describes it as the "most significant release since the first"

Ballmer hails Windows Server 2008

Steve Ballmer praised Microsoft’s latest release of its Windows Server range as "the most significant release since the first" at the products launch in LA yesterday.

He said that Windows Server 2008 had the potential to transform the IT server sector all the way from the data centre to the browser.

"This is the most significant Windows Server release we have made since the first version," adding that its better security and power savings made it an extremely compelling product.

He also took time to praise those who work in the IT sector, describing "each and everyone one of them as an enabler of the heroes."
