Avnet consolidates following acquisition spree

Avnet consolidates following acquisition spree Following an aggressive acquisition drive during the second half of 2007, Avnet has consolidated its UK offices as part of its continued drive to enhance its value-added distribution (VAD) business model.

Last week, the firm moved its entire staff from the Woking and Slough offices, to its Bracknell headquarters. Only the former Acal office remains as a stand-alone unit.

Speaking about the move, Avnet's vice president, Matthew Gower said: " Historically, we have been seen as disjointed by both vendors and customers, but we are now getting the structure in place to be a true VAD.

"A VAD should be able to help resellers move more towards solutions selling, and as a distributor, if you want to stay alive you have to move into solutions and services."
