Following an aggressive acquisition drive during the second half of 2007, Avnet has consolidated its UK offices as part of its continued drive to enhance its value-added distribution (VAD) business model.Last week, the firm moved its entire staff from the Woking and Slough offices, to its Bracknell headquarters. Only the former Acal office remains as a stand-alone unit.
Speaking about the move, Avnet's vice president, Matthew Gower said: " Historically, we have been seen as disjointed by both vendors and customers, but we are now getting the structure in place to be a true VAD.
"A VAD should be able to help resellers move more towards solutions selling, and as a distributor, if you want to stay alive you have to move into solutions and services."
