Asus is set to slim down its Eee line as part of a wider regeneration of the vendor's structure. The most noticeable change is that the firm will only launch three models into its netbook range during 2009, compared to 20 last year.
A representative for the Asus confirmed the changes to Macworld, but declined to go into further details.
Several analysts have commented that Asus' strategy of swamping the market with new SKUs had actually damaged its market share when faced with new competition from the likes of Dell and Toshiba.
