Argos strikes averted

Argos strikes averted Unions have called off the strike that was threatening to disrupt the UK's second largest consumer electronics retailer, Argos.

The action, which was due to take place tomorrow, has been averted after a breakthrough following negotiations between management and union officials from Unite. The new deal put forward by Argos will be scruntinised by the union's national shop stewards committee on Friday with a vote expected later next week.

Workers had striked last Thursday over the four per cent pay deal that Argos had offered workers, claiming that it feel below the rate of inflation. They had been due to strike tomorrow, with four days of total stoppages from July 30th, however, that action will be postponed till after the vote.
