For all those times you’ve wondered what to buy for your technology-and-food-obsessed nearest and dearest, the solution is finally here.
Consumer electronics manufacturer Archos has unveiled the ChefPad, the answer to all those kitchen-tablet dilemmas.
The 9.7-inch device comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, dual-core 1.6GHz processor, quad-core graphics processor, front and back cameras (for taking pictures during and after cooking, of course), 1080p video playback, and access to apps through Google Play. It will be available from June.
So what makes this tablet particularly ‘Cheffy’? It comes with an exclusive Chef Apps Selection, which includes recipes, cooking tips, video and even cooking assistant apps. According to the Archos team, "This exclusive app program curates the best of all apps from Google Play in any specified category making it easier for the end user to find the right content".
"The ChefPad is the first Archos tablet to use this filtering technology," says Loïc Poirier, CEO of Archos. "This is just the beginning for Archos tablets using this technology; we will continue to launch new and exciting themed tablets that curate apps in such categories as kids apps, games, educational apps, business/productivity apps and more."
It also has a silicone case designed to keep it safe from water or food splashes, with an adjustable stand so that it’s easy to change the viewing angle.
No word yet on whether the pinkness or the cooking theme means it’s targeted towards women specifically, but it wouldn’t be a surprise.
