Apple will no longer ship Macs with Adobe Flash pre-installed, after already banning the software from the iPhone and iPad.
While users will still be able to download and install a Flash player from the web, the decision appears to be the latest in a series of hostile moves from Apple towards Adobe.
Earlier this year, Apple CEO Steve Jobs wrote a blog called ‘Thoughts on Flash’, in which he criticised Adobe’s software for being power-hungry and “the number one reason Macs crash”.
The firm has also banned developers from creating Flash-based games for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.
Apple spokesman Bill Evans told Reuters: "We're happy to continue to support Flash on the Mac and the best way for users to always have the most up to date and secure version is to download it directly from Adobe."
Adobe said in a statement: "As always, Adobe recommends that users download the most up to date version of Adobe Flash Player from Adobe.com."
