Apple has reportedly asked hardware manufacturer PhotoFast to cease production of a faster 256GB Macbook Air SSD upgrade.
Citing a source 'close to PhotoFast', 9to5Mac.com said that Apple contacted the firm last week and requested that they stop production of the 256GB SSD upgrade.
With PhotoFast taking part in Apple's licensed peripheral program 'MFi', such a request was understood to be non negotiable.
The PhotoFast 256GB SSD offers speeds of up to 250MB/s compared to 160MB/s of the Apple OEM drive.
