Apple's headquarters was hit by a major fire yesterday, which seriously damaged its one of its R&D buildings. The fire, which was large enough to set off three separate alarms throughout the building, took more than three hours to extinguish according to various media reports.
A spokesperson for the SCFD told reporters that the fire was: "not very big, but there is going to be a lot of smoke damage". There is no indication as to the cause of the fire, though it is thought the building operates 24/7 suggesting an electrical fault may be to blame.
It is currently unclear if there will be any impact on channel inventory following the fire. PC Retail was still waiting to hear back from Apple at the time of posting.
