Apple is being investigated in Japan over allegations that it charged for iTunes downloads that were never made.
According to the AFP, there has been at least 95 cases involving at five credit card companies and in some cases the iTunes customers had been charged with thousands of dollars worth of downloads.
One such case involved a woman that had registered her credit card with the company several years ago, but hadn’t used it in recent years, who received bills of around $1,100 for purchases that she wasn’t aware of.
“We have seen such cases increasing, notably since autumn last year,” said an official from the Japanese Consumer Affairs Agency. “The damage in those cases seems to range from a few hundred yen to several hundred thousand yen.”
