Apple facing antitrust probe

US watchdogs have indicated that they may launch an investigation in to Apple’s software policy towards the iPhone.

According to the Financial Times, the authorities are looking at whether the iPhone unfairly locks out competitors, and follows the ongoing dispute between Apple and the creators of Flash, Adobe.

At this stage, the US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission are still making the decision as to whether to launch a probe, but a resolution is expected within a week.

UPDATE: Electronista reports that Apple may pre-emptively change its terms and conditions for software developer kits, allowing developers to use third party resources like Flash or MonoTouch.
