Apple has said that almost 29 per cent of the 700 Beats employees will loose their position within the company.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the current 700 Beats employees will begin working at Apple once the deal closes; however, this will be reduced to 500 within the next few months.
Apple announced in May it was acquiring the company owned by rapper Dr. Dre for three billion dollars (£1.8 billion).
Tom Neumayr, a spokesperson for Apple, said in a statement: “We’re excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee.
“Because of some overlap in our operations, some offers are for a limited period and we’ll work hard during this time to find as many of these Beats employees as we can another permanent job within Apple."
A person familiar with the matter has also revealed that positions from areas such as human resources, finance and support services will be most affected.
PCR reported previously on Apple’s plans to introduce a new support for headphones, which would connect via the Lightning Port.
The new iOS device audio technology could bring big implications for users, as the move to the Lightning Port suggests the 3.5mm audio jack would no longer be needed.
This would entice users into an Apple/Beats hardware system, specifically for Apple electronics, in order to access the extra features via the Lightning Port.
The three billion dollar price tag is also the largest acquisition sum paid out by the electronics company.
