Apple admits MacBook Pro fault

Apple admits MacBook Pro fault Apple has warned customers that the Nvidia graphics chip fault, details of which were revealed last month, also affect some MacBook Pros manufactured between May 2007 and September 2008.

Nvidia had reportedly told Apple that chips supplied to itself for use in its MacBook Pro models were unaffected by the fault it announced in July. However, Apple is reported to have discovered that some models are affected by the design fault.

According to Apple, symptoms of the fault include distorted or scrambled video, or no video on the screen or through an external display despite the MacBook Pro being on.

The models affected according to Apple include 17-inch 2.4GHz MacBook Pros, as well as 15-inch 2.4GHz and 2.2GHz MacBook Pros, all manufactured between May 2007 and September 2008.
