A Chinese company called Proview Technology is suing Apple, claiming that it owns the ‘iPad’ name in China.
According to the Inquirer, Proview says that it registered the name back in early 2000, some time before Apple had even created a prototype of its tablet device, which was launched in China last month.
Proview is apparently asking Apple to stop using the iPad name in China or face forced removal of its products., and is reportedly asking $800 million for a transferral of the trademark.
