More than two billion iPhone applications have been downloaded from Apple’s App Store, the company announced yesterday.
The store can be accessed by iPhone and iPod Touch customers worldwide and contains categories including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel.
“The rate of App Store downloads continues to accelerate with users downloading a staggering two billion apps in just over a year, including more than half a billion apps this quarter alone,” said CEO Steve Jobs. “The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device, and our users are clearly loving it.”
The App Store has over 85,000 applications available, and there are over 125,000 developers signed up to the iPhone Developer Program.
