Rovio teams up with Freddie Mercury charity to celebrate Queen frontman

Angry Birds creates Freddie Mercury character for charity

Rovio has teamed up with Freddie For A Day to produce a new Angry Birds video featuring the late Queen singer.

"Freddie For A Day and Rovio Entertainment are proud to announce a unique and innovative partnership that sees the most iconic Rock’n’Roll frontman of all time, Freddie Mercury, become an honorary member of the Angry Birds family," read a statement on Queen’s Facebook page.

Freddie For A Day is an annual campaign to raise funds for HIV/AIDS charity Mercury Phoenix Trust. The event coincides with the singer’s birthday on September 5, in which fans from around the world are encouraged to dress up as Mercury.

“Freddie for a Day is such a great way to honour Freddie’s fun and flamboyant spirit while delivering an important message,” Rovio’s CMO Peter Vesterbacka said in a statement.
