Low-key launch of 2GB DDR3 DRAM

AMD to offer Radeon-branded DRAM

Chipmaker AMD has launched a range of Radeon-branded DDR 3 DRAM which the firm is set to market as being ideally suited for the firm’s own range of CPU and APU products.

Within the DRAM range will be three series, starting with ‘Entertainment’ which runs at 1333MT/s while enthusiast gamer ‘Ultra Pro’ series is clocked at 1600MT/s.

So far only 2GB modules are on offer and there’s no details for the ‘Enterprise’ series as yet. The narrow range, paucity of details and lack of a formal announcement suggest AMD is quietly dipping a toe in the DRAM market at first.

The only details are on this product page. It’s not clear at this point if AMD is looking to use the new DRAM range to provide a set of value bundles of AMD CPU and discreet graphics solutions.
