AMD snaps up Dell exec

Former Dell executive Ahmed Mahmoud has joined AMD in the role of chief information officer, where he will be responsible for the chip maker’s global technology infrastructure.

Previously Mahmoud spent over 12 years with Dell, most recently in the position of vice president of IT. There he was responsible for a number of operations across its data warehousing, online storefront, manufacturing, supply chain, and corporate computing divisions, reported Information Week.

"Ahmed’s success using IT as a competitive differentiator to scale the business will help AMD tremendously as we expand our own infrastructure to best meet internal needs and better serve a growing customer base," said Dirk Meyer, president and chief operating officer at AMD.
