New PCI-e and USB TV tuners due to hit market this September

AMD launches new TV tuners

AMD has unveiled two new products in its TV Wonder range, the TV Wonder 650 Combo PCIe and TV Wonder 600 USB.

The TV Wonder 650 has a dual tuner, one digital and the other analogue, allowing users to watch one program and record the other at the same time.

The digital tuner on the TV Wonder 650 also features ClearQAM technology, allowing users to receive unscrambled digital broadcasts over cable TV lines. The technology also allows it to tune into high-definition broadcasts from analogue and digital sources.

The TV Wonder 600 USB can tune into both analogue and digital, however unlike the 650, it does not allow the user to watch one and record the other. It does however support both freeview and high-definition broadcasts.

"More and more, customers are using the PC as a digital hub for TV and video capture and these solutions put ‘The Ultimate Visual Experience’ in reach of almost any PC user," said vice president of marketing, Graphics Product Group at AMD, Matt Skynner.

"These new HDTV tuner products provide a perfect complement to AMD’s graphics solutions, AMD LIVE! platforms, and AMD Turion 64 mobile technology-based notebooks – delivering simplified home theatre PC options that come together for uncompromising visual quality and ease of use," added

Both are due for release this September.
