AMD has shown the door to 500 workers across various departments global, as its cost cutting campaign to reduce its 15,500 staff continues. The firm plans to reduce its staff numbers to 12,500 by early next year.
Company spokesperson Michael Silverman told the Austin American-Statesman that the cuts were an “unfortunate but necessary part of this process to help us align our people with the focused programs that achieve our objectives, eliminate duplication of effort and allow us to operate more efficiently."
