AMD have made available new Catalyst 12.4 video drivers for Radeon series graphics cards, adding support for the Radeon HD 7000-series to Windows XP.
In addition to supporting the latest graphics cards in crusty old operating systems, Catalyst 12.4 introduces a number of image quality improvements for Radeon HD 7700, 7800 and 7900 cards, adding LOD image quality enhancements for anti-aliasing.
Texture filtering quality has also been improved on the new 7000-series.
"Significant performance enhancements" are also provided for the 7000-series and older 5000 and 6000-series cards for the so-called morphological anti-aliasing.
Overall, Catalyst 12.4 seems mainly about brushing up image quality and OS support for owners of new 7000-series cards. If you have one of those, the upgrade seems well worth while.
