Amazon in planning to release its first smartphone in the second half of the year.
WSJ reports that ‘people briefed on the company’s plans’ have revealed that Amazon is currently demoing the handset to developers in secure hotel rooms.
The sources claim that the smartphone will be officially unveiled in June, but won’t start shipping until September.
Production is rumoured to being in April, with Amazon’s first order of handsets expected to be for 600,000 units.
Rumoured specs for the device include a 3D user interface, a 12MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera.
It is also thought that Amazon may release two smartphones, one of which will be a budget model costing around £60 to £100.
