Adobe has acquired Aviary, the photo editing image platform for mobiles and Android, for an unspecified amount.
The two firms will work together on bringing Adobe’s editing tools and Creative Cloud services to more mobile apps.
With many people already using Aviary-powered photo editing apps and more developers using Aviary’s Software Development Kits (SDKs) across mobile platforms, the acquisition will help to propel Adobe’s plans to expand its Creative Cloud app development.
Adobe Creative SDK is already currently being tested by developers and a beta launch is expected in the coming months.
Scott Belsky, vice president of Creative Cloud Ecosystem and Behance at Adobe, said: “This is great news for developers because thousands of mobile apps will have the opportunity to become compatible with industry-defining desktop tools like Photoshop CC, as well as new Creative Cloud services."
