Acer has revealed that it expects Blu-ray's sales to be boosted by sales of notebooks and PCs, as opposed to stand alone players in the coming months, following the announcement it would be dropping its support for rival format HD DVD."Since most homes do no have 'Full' HD (1080p) ready televisions, a notebook with a Blu-ray drive and Full HD panel will have more advantages over a stand-alone player," Acer's Taiwanese president, Scott Lin told Digitimes.
He added that Acer is expecting to ship two Blu-ray notebooks towards summer; one with an 17-inch screen and the other with a 15-inch screen, both of which would support Full HD.
