Acer blames Microsoft for Linux move

Acer blames Microsoft for Linux move Acer and Microsoft may be heading for a public spat after the Taiwanese vendor publicly cited the Redmond-based software firm itself as the reason why it was moving towards Linux.

Speaking to VNUnet, Acer's vice president of marketing and brand Gianpiero Morbello said that the firm was moving away from Microsoft, but conceded that it would be "difficult" to move away from the Windows platform.

"We have shifted towards Linux because of Microsoft," he said. "Microsoft has a lot of power and it is going to be difficult, but we will be working hard to develop the Linux market."
