Global smartphone shipments reach 301.3 million in the second quarter.
According to IDC, Android and iOS devices made up 96.4 per cent of those shipments. Android was the primary driver with its vendor partners shipping a total of 255.3 million smartphones, up 33.3 per cent year-over-year.
iOS saw its market share decline despite posting 12.7 per cent year-over-year shipment growth.
While Android and iOS both realised gains from a year ago, the rest of the market recorded losses.
Windows Phone volumes declined from a year ago, but compared to the previous quarter, it showed slight improvement.
Following three consecutive quarters of sequential decline, BlackBerry volumes rebounded slightly from the previous quarter, but remained 78.0 per cent lower than shipment levels from a year ago.
