More than 60 million digital TV Freeview devices are in use in the UK according to a new Digital TV Progress report from Ofcom.
The roll out of Freeview HD has been less impressive with only 250,000 homes having access to high definition digital terrestrial television five months after the launch of the service. Freeset HD by contrast has 1.25 million installations.
Over 10 million comes in the UK choose to use Freeview as their main television delivery system largely aided by the incorporation of Freeview tuners into most modern TV sets.
The new figures from Ofcom show that digital television take up has risen 2.9 per cent and now stands at an impressive 92.7 per cent of all households.
