Over 500,000 users have migrated to RSS reader app Freedly in just 48 hours.
Two days after Google announced that it would retire its own RSS service, Freedly posted a new entry on its blog saying it has added new servers and increased its bandwidth ten-fold to keep up.
“More than 500,000 Google Reader users have joined the feedly community over the last 48 hours. We love passionate readers. Welcome on board.
Our main priorities over the next 30 days are 1) to keep the service up, 2) listen to new users for suggestions and 3) add features weekly.
To keep the service up, we 10x our bandwidth and added new servers.”
Feedly is available for iOS, Android, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. The influx in new users after Google’s announcement has made it the top app on the Apple store.
Last week Google announced that it is to shut down its Reader service on July 1st, stating that the usage of the eight-year-old service is in decline.
