Around a third of British football fans will be watching the FIFA World Cup online, a survey has found.
The study, conducted by PC World, revealed that 30 per cent of those expected to watch the World Cup plan to watch it over the internet.
23 per cent said they would use a laptop or desktop to watch matches, while 10 per cent claimed they would use a smartphone.
The survey, which was conducted among 3,000 people, also suggested that 10 per cent more people would replays of World Cup games online than on TV.
Almost half of football fans are expecting to miss fewer games than in the 2006 World Cup.
Jeremy Fennell, category director at PC World, said: “Internet TV was only just coming into play when England last played in a World Cup tournament. Now, in just four years, football fans are able to watch live and recorded footage from laptops, desktop PCs and mobile phones from just about any location in the UK and across the world.”
