The Apple iPad 2 has entered production according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
The report also confirms the unsurprising facts that the forthcoming iPad sequel will feature a camera and a faster processor.
The Journal, citing sources ‘familiar with the matter’, said that the iPad 2 will be initially available through the US networks Verizon and AT&T.
The report also claimed that the iPad sequel would have a similar screen resolution than the original iPad and that the company "had trouble improving the display technology" on the basis of a larger screen than the iPhone.
Rumours had earlier circulated that the iPad sequel would feature a dramatically higher resolution display, backed up by art assets shipped by Apple which appeared to suggest higher resolution support for the tablet device.
Upcoming Android tablets such as the Motorola Xoom are expected to ship with 1280 x 800 displays, representing around 160 dpi compared to the original iPad’s 132 dpi display.
