CeBIT 2010: Graphics chip giant Nvidia officially launches new graphics processor

Nvidia showcases next generation Ion technology

Nvidia has unveiled an update to its Ion line of graphics processors, which it claims will provide netbooks with ten times the graphics performance.

Apparently, it will also enable up to ten hours of battery life thanks to Optimus technology, which only turns on more power hungry discrete graphics as and when required.

As well as in netbooks, the GPU will also be available on small form factor desktops, “barebones” systems, motherboards, and discrete add-in cards. 30 products in total are expected to launch this summer, pre-loaded with the technology.
