Scottsdale, Arizona and Mission Viejo, California selected as first branded stores
Microsoft's first retail stores will be located in Scottsdale, Arizona and Mission Viejo, California, it has been revealed.
The vendor signed leases on the two properties, and plans to open them by the end of Autumn, according to CNET. A spokesperson for the company told the website that the bricks and mortar stores will help it "directly connect" with the many billions of people who use its products.
According to a spokesperson, the shops are in response to demand from the consumer for a simpler shopping experience, a wider selection of technology, competitive pricing and knowledgeable staff.
A variety of brand name laptops, gaming products, including its Xbox range, and software from a variety of vendors across the spectrum will be stocked.

I find it incredible that someone at Microsoft thinks it a good idea to go head to head with the millions of companies which retail its products. I already retail PC's installed with Linux and Open Office (on request), but now I think I will need to put more effort into what has to date been more a hobby than a serious business venture, if Microsoft is intent on going after my customer base then I guess I may as well go after theirs.
