Last issue of stalwart consumer magazine will go on sale June 18th
Incisive Media is to cease publication of Personal Computer World after the August issue, citing adverse market conditions and a general decline in consumer PC magazines as the main factors in its demise.
The magazine has been running for 30 years, and the final issue will go on sale on June 18th, reported The Guardian.
Apparently 12 people could lose their jobs due to the closure.
"Because of the unprecedented adverse economic climate, advertisement and copy sale revenues have declined in parallel with the contraction of the monthly personal computer magazine market, to the point that the title is no longer economically viable," Incisive said today.

This is a sad day. PCW is a magazine that has bucked the trend in most PC magazines and provided interesting articles and projects, rather than just hundreds of reviews of articles most will never buy.
I hope that when times improve PCW can find it's way back into the market.
A very sad day indeed, a complete shock considering its subcriber base was still at 50,000! All the best to the staff, some of which have been in the industry for decades and become close personal friends to many. You will be greatly missed.
Thanks for those kind comments. It's been a real labour of love for me over the past 6 years.
Its a sad reflection on economic climates and changing consumer issues.
Best wishes to all the team.

An excellent magazine always worth reading and digesting. This closure is a great shame. If PCW does/did have a current subscriber base of 50,000, the decision to close must have been difficult.
Here's hoping for a later revival!
Got the letter a couple of days back. Really sad news to see this industry icon closed down. Receiving the magazine and essential DVD each month was a highlight. I made a number of purchases after having read the reviews. The Hands-on section also helped me out many times. What a shame. I don't think there can be another magazine as good as PCW.
