The television advert for the recently release Apple iPhone 3G has been banned, after the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that it was misleading in claims about internet browsing.

Two complaints were submitted to the ASA, both stating that the advert said "all parts of the internet are on the iPhone," but pointing out that the device is not capable of displaying sites based on Flash or Java.

Apple rebutted, saying that the claim referred to availability rather than appearance, but the ASA said that the advert "gave a misleading impression of the internet capabilities of the iPhone," saying that it must not be broadcast again in its current form.
